Lives and works in London
I am a London-based contemporary artist working across painting and mediated mixed-media processes. My practice is defined by a restrained yet emotionally charged visual language, exploring psychological interiority.
I graduated from the University of the Arts London and developed my vision through studies in Japan, where engagement with Eastern philosophy and aesthetics shapes the contemplative precision of my work, in which silence, surface, and material presence exist in deliberate balance.
My trajectory across Romania, London, and Japan informs a practice in which identity is fluid and continuously reconfigured. Romania grounded me in historical awareness and emotional depth, London exposed me to hybridity and reinvention, and Japan cultivated a sensitivity to impermanence and restraint.
Portraiture lies at the core of my visual language. Figures exist in suspended psychological states, often beginning from self-portraiture and subtly altered, forming a camouflage — a recalibration of the self within shifting cultural and emotional landscapes.
I build each work slowly, through accumulation and restraint. Texture becomes structural — at times recalling skin: luminous, layered, and resilient, reinforcing vulnerability and endurance while leaving a sense of quiet affirmation. Layered surfaces of oil, ink, diamond dust, and gold leaf on canvas carry conceptual and emotional weight. Some compositions are refined through mediated processes, exploring new possibilities of perception without replacing the tactile process of painting.
A lasting influence is Kintsugi — the visible integration of rupture. Fracture becomes structure; damage becomes history. Gold fissures in my portraits mark transformation rather than conceal it.
I have presented selected works internationally, including in London, Paris, New York, Kyoto, Cologne, Dubai, Venice, and Miami, and at institutions such as the National Museum of the Romanian Peasant (UNESCO), National Library of Romania, Romanian National Commission for UNESCO, Bucharest, Romania. My practice has been recognised with selected distinctions, featured in publications and television, and I am the recipient of the Excellence in Culture Award.
